Top 10 CFPB Headlines of 2015

Larissa Padden

canstockphoto8704467Not surprisingly, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau dominated the headlines in 2015, for a second year running.

It was another busy year for the CFPB. The bureau continued to reach numerous consent orders and level fines against various auto lenders. While Santander Consumer USA picked up the most CFPB complaints in the first half of the year — for the second year in a row — according to an Auto Finance News analysis, captives like American Honda Finance, Toyota Financial Services, and Nissan Motor Acceptance found also found themselves under the regulatory agency’s microscope this year.

The CFPB didn’t just play offense throughout year, though. It found itself on the defensive against efforts by Congress to limit CFPB guidance, as well – an effort that will continue in the U.S. Senate in 2016.

As 2015 winds down, please join us in taking a look back at the top 10 CFPB headlines in AFN:
