General Motors Financial Inc. will begin construction of its new financial servicing center – set to employ up to 700 employees – in San Antonio, Texas, in 2016, the captive announced yesterday.
The new servicing center is yet another move in company’s focus on improving customer service. “As GM Financial continues to grow to support General Motors, we have a strategic focus on providing best-in-class service to our customers and dealers,” Chief Executive Dan Berce said in a statement. “This additional facility will help us do that by expanding our workforce and service capacity in a strong and vibrant employment market.”
The company has reevaluated its strategy in the past few years to tackle customer service as a “competitive advantage,” Bob Beatty, GMF’s executive vice president, told Auto Finance News recently. “We now, since we morphed with our parent company, have a more vested interest to improve customer experience, and that interest is shared between GM and GM dealers,” he said.
The construction in San Antonio is set to finish in the first quarter of 2017, adding 490 full-time jobs in a four-year time-frame, according to the release. The captive chose the location based on factors like convenient time zone as well as city and state incentives.
