AFS 2019: Golden 1 CU develops mobile portal for auto loans

LAS VEGAS – Golden 1 Credit Union is revamping its online portal this month to enable members to apply for auto loans in three clicks, Chief Lending Officer Greg Brown told attendees at the Auto Finance Summit.

“We used some of the data that we’ve learned through focus groups and vendors and then our own [research] looking at how people transact, and we said, ‘Okay, we need to do a better job with our mobile accounts and mobile access to be able to see Golden 1,’” Brown said at the Auto Finance Summit.

The redesigned website and back-end software offer a mobile-friendly, “pinch and zoom” responsive design, as opposed to pulling up a desktop version of the Golden 1 site on a mobile device. The revised site is one of the first digital capabilities on the account-opening side that is a true mobile experience, Brown added.

The goal is to provide a consistent loan experience throughout the credit union’s different products and communication channels. “We’re trying to get to the point of no matter how you touch the organization, it’s the same experience,” Brown said. “We have a brand. That brand is supposed to be simple, easy, one-touch, three steps to get to a loan application.”

The auto loan portal will mirror Golden 1’s recently launched home loan portal, which offers scenarios for what the loan payment can be and provides contact information for loan advisors. Approvals can be offered in as few as five minutes, Brown noted.
