White Clarke Takes Aim at AI

JJ Hornblass

canstockphoto3007507LONDON — White Clarke Group is starting to look for solutions in artificial intelligence.

White Clarke has “started some conversions on the AI side,” Brendan Gleeson, the company’s CEO, said here yesterday. “It is where I really want to go to,” he added.

AI enables intelligence, responsive data analysis. Gleeson called AI “the most transformative innovation we have seen, certainly in my lifetime,” and pointed out how self-driving cars are “AI on wheels” and voice-recognition platforms like Siri or Amazon’s Alexa are equally examples of AI.

Gleeson said much of the AI initiatives today are built on previously technology, mainly of the open-source variety. Some examples are Caffe and CNTK. Even IBM Watson — IBM’s AI offering — is free to try.

One company that is working on AI for auto finance is Feedzai. Richard Harris, head of international operations at the San Mateo, Calif.-startup, which bills itself as “fraud prevention with machine learning,” spoke at a White Clarke-sponsored event here yesterday.

While that development goes on, White Clarke is already working on a first version of a new digital customer experience platform for Toyota Financial Services, Gleeson said. It is being rolled out now, he added.

White Clarke, which is based in Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom, and provides end-to-end auto finance software solutions, has more than 100 clients in asset finance.
