Fed’s Akana to discuss capital markets at Auto Finance Summit 2024

Auto Finance Summit 2024 will return Oct. 7-9 at Wynn Las Vegas.

The Auto Finance News team is pleased to announce that Tom Akana, senior adviser and research fellow of the Consumer Finance Institute with the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, will join Auto Finance Summit 2024 alongside Elen Callahan, head of research with the Structured Finance Association

Akana and Callahan will speak on the state of funding, capital markets and interest margins at 11:40 a.m. on Oct. 8 during Auto Finance Summit 2024 on Oct. 7-9 at Wynn Las Vegas.

The presentation will examine:  

  • Election year spreads and cost dynamics;   
  • Understanding investor demand and diversification needs;  
  • Assessing prime and subprime performance; and 
  • Discussing issuance trends, including the 2022 vintage.  

Get to know Akana 

Akana joined the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia in 2018 with more than 15 years of experience in the credit card industry, according to his LinkedIn profile. 

His responsibilities as senior adviser and research fellow include monitoring consumer decision-making, payment cards and the impact of technology and regulation on consumer payment habits, according to his company biography. 

In 2020, Akana piloted the Consumer Finance Institute’s “COVID-19 Survey of Consumers” to track the effects of the pandemic on employment, income and spending habits, according to his biography.
