Over the past two years, EVs have gained market share of sales as the government and manufacturers push to increase adoption, with increased investment in development and infrastructure. At the end of July, EVs accounted for 6.9% of light vehicle sales year-to-date, up compared with 5.5% in 2022 and 3.1% in 2021, according to Cox Automotive.

As EVs begin to flood the market, lenders must evaluate how to underwrite and structure EV finance contracts.

The panelists

Aly joined luxury EV manufacturer Lucid Motors in March 2021 as the global director of financial services and was promoted to her current position in February. Prior to joining Lucid, she served as vice president of brand strategy at Aston Martin Financial Services, a private label venture of JPMorgan Chase.

Liegl founded EV finance company Tenet in 2021 to provide consumers with lower monthly payments for EVs by applying tax credits to the vehicle down payment. Previously, he was a managing partner at investment and infrastructure platform for blockchain protocols Layer1 Capital and chief executive of AI fraud detection platform provider Apex Labs.

Paul started EV finance company SpringFree EV in 2020 to grow EV fleet adoption. He co-founded ridesharing platform Sidecar in 2011 and assets were sold to GM Financial in 2016.
