Ash Savage

The Auto Finance News team is pleased to announce that Joseph Portera, senior vice president and chief business risk officer with Capital One Financial Services, will sit down for a one-on-one fireside chat as part of the Auto Finance Summit 2024, which takes place Oct. 7-9 at the Wynn Las Vegas.

View the full event agenda here.

The fireside chat will be at 10:20 a.m. on Oct. 8 and will provide a platform for Capital One’s Portera to discuss the following:

  • The economy;
  • Innovation and industry trends;
  • Fresh growth ideas; and
  • Market expectations for 2025.

Portera joined the bank in 2015 as the general counsel, working on Capital One Mortgage, Capital One Home Equity, Capital One Home Loans Servicing and Capital One Auto Finance through the bank’s Plano, Texas-based division, according to his LinkedIn profile.

He was promoted to senior vice president and head of risk for the bank’s auto lending sector in 2017 and he remains responsible for managing “all categories of risk” while “bringing innovative, technology and data-driven solutions to complex issues,” according to LinkedIn.

Capital One Auto Finance’s originations totaled $8.5 billion in the second quarter, up 12.5% quarter over quarter and 18.2% year over year, according to the bank’s July 23 earnings release. The bank’s auto outstandings increased 0.8% sequentially but fell 1.9% YoY to $74.4 billion in Q2.
