OEMs amp up promos in November

Matthew Wood

OEMs such as Polaris, Honda and Suzuki were more aggressive on promotions for current model year vehicles in November, according to a report BMO Capital Markets provided Powersports Finance.

While current model year promotions on Polaris side-by-sides were less aggressive with finance offers, the OEM had larger rebates in November. For example, the RZR had 3.99% financing with a $500 rebate compared with 2.99% financing and a $300 rebate year over year. Additionally, current model year Rangers were offered with a $1,000 rebate compared with a $300 rebate in November 2018.

Polaris was also more promotional with its Slingshot model. Current-year Slingshots had a $2,500 rebate or 3.99% financing, compared to the same financing rate without a rebate year over year. Polaris is running a “Treat Yourself” promotion that will award customers cash bonuses of up to $2,000 that are redeemable at Slingshot dealerships until Dec. 31.

Honda‘s November promotions were focused on all ATV models and current model year side-by-sides, which featured a $300 rebate and 0% financing for 12 months. Last year, side-by-sides sported a 3.99% financing rate, while ATVs had 0% financing.

Meanwhile, Suzuki’s “Cool To Ride” sales event began in November and was more aggressive for motorcycles but comparable for ATVs, according to the report. The OEM was offering up to a $1,500 rebate or 1.99% financing on current year motorcycles compared with 1.99% financing or up to a $1,000 rebate year over year. Suzuki’s current model year ATV promotions were 0% financing or up to a $1,200 rebate — unchanged from last year.
