Motus Expands to Additional States, Aims for 100 Dealers

Matthew Wood

Motus Motorcycles, a high-end motorcycle manufacturer, increased its geographic territories to 19 states last week with the addition of two new states, and is now scouting for lender partners, Powersports Finance has learned.

The manufacturer now has dealerships in Connecticut and California, with the addition of Brookfield Motus and Motus Westlake, respectively. Each dealership has factory trained and certified technicians to service the full range of Motus Motorcycles, according to a press release.

Currently, Motus works with 35 dealers, but the manufacturer is planning to increase its network size to 100 by the end of 2019, Lee Con, chief executive of Motus, told Powersports Finance.

Additionally, Motus is also “looking to expand” their lender network to have “as many options as possible,” Con said. The manufacturer already has a floorplan financing option with Wells Fargo Commercial Distribution Finance and also works with FreedomRoad Financial, a national retail powersports lending company.

Headquartered in Birmingham, Ala., Motus is a small motorcycle and motor manufacturer that produces “niche, super high-end, high-performance bikes.” While the company does not produce bikes at the rate of larger manufacturers, Motus is focused on meeting demand in 2018.

“Our goal is making exquisite motorcycles,” Con said. “We’re not a mass producer, these are handmade machines. Our goal is to remain hyper-focused on quality and never risk that at the expense of growth.”
