Harley-Davidson and Polaris are two of the largest OEMs in powersports, and their operations attract the attention of lenders, dealers, vendors and Powersports Finance readers. Both companies released their fourth-quarter earnings reports last month, with the OEMs reporting contrasting results. Polaris saw sales in the U.S. grow 2% — bolstered by Indian Motorcycles and ATVs. Meanwhile, Harley sales fell 3.1%, its 12th consecutive quarterly sales drop.
The two OEMs are in different positions in the industry, and to help better understand the results of the earnings and what the sales trends mean for the industry, PSF spoke with Jaime Katz, an equity analyst with Morningstar Research.
