Ally Financial names Richard new CRO, other staff moves

Ally Financial today announced the appointment of a 27-year veteran of the bank as the company’s chief risk officer as part of several leadership changes. [caption id="attachment_58346578" align="alignleft" width="151"] Stephanie Richard[/caption] Stephanie Richard , who has served in various roles at Ally across finance, treasury and risk management, is the company’s CRO effective immediately, according to an Ally release. Richard had most recently served as chief audit executive since 2018. Former Ally CRO Jason Schugel will serve in an interim senior advisor role before leaving Ally. Succeeding Richard is Meghan Ryan , who was promoted to chief audit executive and has been with Ally for 13 years in various roles in finance and treasury. She most recently was chief financial officer for Ally's consumer and commercial banking businesses. Lindsay Sacknoff joins Ally as head of Deposits and Invest, effective Jan. 13, 2025. She will report to Chief Executive Michael Rhodes . Sacknoff has more than two decades of experience in banking and most recently led USAA ’s payments and omnichannel sales and services organization. She also held roles at TD Bank , including head of U.S. consumer deposits, products and payments, according to the Ally release. Sean Leary was named Ally’s chief financial planning and investor relations officer reporting to Chief Financial Officer Russ Hutchinson . Leary was previously head of investor relations and corporate financial planning and analysis, according to the release. He joined Ally in 2008, according to his company profile. Ali Summerville , business administrative executive at Ally, is leaving the company, with Chief Human Resources Officer Kathie Patterson assuming responsibility for the Ally Charitable Foundation. Ally Financial’s auto originations decreased 11.3% year over year in the third quarter to $9.4 billion while loan and lease outstandings landed at $91.9 billion, down 3.3% YoY. Ally was the second-largest auto lender by outstandings at yearend 2023 with a portfolio of $93.6 billion, according to the latest Big Wheels Rankings data . Arra Finance adds Crotty to sales team [caption id="attachment_58346579" align="alignright" width="122"] Chris Crotty[/caption] Arra Finance named Chris Crotty to the sales team serving dealers in Northern Illinois, according to a company post on LinkedIn . Effective this month, Crotty serves as a dealer sales manager at Arra following 10 years at the credit union BCU and a stint at GM Financial as dealer relationship manager, according to his LinkedIn profile. Arra was Solera Auto Finance before a rebrand in August following the acquisition by asset management firm Obra Capital . Hyundai Motor Company names Munoz CEO [caption id="attachment_58346580" align="alignleft" width="184"] Jose Munoz[/caption] Hyundai Motor Company named Jose Munoz the OEM’s new president and CEO, effective Jan. 1, 2025. Munoz succeeds Jaehoon Chang , who was promoted to vice chair of Hyundai Motor Group after serving as Hyundai Motor CEO since 2020, according to a Nov. 14 company release. Hyundai has three co-CEOs, with Munoz joining Executive Chairman and CEO Euisun Chung and President and Executive Vice President and CEO Dong Seock Lee . Munoz, who joined the manufacturer in 2019, will lead Hyundai’s initiatives involving diversified powertrain offerings, including electric, hybrid and hydrogen technology, according to the release. He is the first non-Korean CEO of Hyundai Motor, according to the company. In his tenure at Hyundai, Munoz has served as president and global chief operating officer, and president and CEO of the firm’s Genesis Motor North America division. He also led global sales, service and production planning. Before joining Hyundai, Munoz was at Nissan for 15 years, according to the release. Hyundai also named Sung Kim president of Hyundai Motor Company effective Jan. 1, 2025, according to a Nov. 14 release. Kim joined Hyundai Motor Group as an adviser in January after retiring from the U.S. Department of State . Jun Young Choi , previously head of domestic production division and chief safety officer, was promoted to president of Kia Corp. , according to the release. Kyoo Bok Lee , CEO of Hyundai Glovis, was promoted to president, while Cheol Seung Baek was named CEO of Hyundai Transys and Joon Dong Oh was chosen as CEO of Hyundai KEFICO. Further, Hanwoo Lee was appointed CEO of Hyundai Engineering and Construction Co. and Woo Jeong Joo was named CEO of Hyundai Engineering Co. Hyundai Motor America’s sales rose 5% YoY to 210,971 units in the third quarter. Volkswagen taps Rivian exec Gruner as America leader [caption id="attachment_58346581" align="alignright" width="240"] Kjell Gruner[/caption] The Volkswagen Group named Kjell Gruner as CEO of Volkswagen Group of America, effective Dec. 12. He succeeds Pablo Di Si , who stepped down, according to a Nov. 19 Volkswagen release. Gerrit Spengler , chief human resources officer of Volkswagen Group of America, will serve as interim CEO ahead of Gruner’s appointment. Gruner has more than 25 years of experience in the automotive industry, and most recently served as chief commercial officer and president of business growth at EV manufacturer Rivian Automotive , according to the release. He also has held roles at DaimlerChrysler AG , Mercedes Benz Cars and Porsche AG . Volkswagen delivered 769,000 vehicles in North America through the first nine months of the year, up 7% year over year, according to the company. Volkswagen deliveries increased 21.7% YoY in the first three quarters of 2024 in North America. Toyota Motor North America's Rice to retire [caption id="attachment_58346596" align="alignleft" width="72"] Kent Rice[/caption] Kent Rice , group vice president of quality at Toyota Motor North America (TMNA), will retire on Jan. 2, 2025 after 33 years with Toyota, according to a Nov. 20 TMNA release. Rice oversees the development and management of quality systems and policies in the manufacturer's North American operations. [caption id="attachment_58346595" align="alignright" width="112"] Tom Trisdale[/caption] Tom Trisdale , vice president of quality promotion, assurance and audit, will suceed Rice effective Jan. 2, according to the release. Trisdale reports to Chris Nielsen , executive vice president of product support and chief quality officer at TMNA. TransUnion’s Martin to resign [caption id="attachment_58346582" align="alignleft" width="121"] Tim Martin[/caption] TransUnion is looking for a replacement for Executive Vice President and Chief Global Solutions Officer Timothy Martin , who plans to retire by September 2026, according to published reports. He has served in the role since May 2019, according to his company bio. William Bosworth , board member at TransUnion, also plans to resign by the end of 2024, according to the reports. Black Book picks Jabaay as VP, data licensing [caption id="attachment_58346583" align="alignright" width="91"] Jim Jabaay[/caption] Data and analytics provider Black Book has chosen Jim Jabaay as vice president of data licensing. Jabaay’s automotive career spans more than 20 years at companies including marketplace provider Impel , Dealertrack , Manheim and LotVantage , according to a Black Book release today.
