Triumph Reports 12.7% Increase in Retail Sales

William Hoffman

The UK motorcycle brand Triumph had another record year in sales after reporting a 12.7% increase in retail sales for fiscal year 2017.

The OEM sold 63,404 motorcycles in the full year ending June 30, the company reported in late December. That resulted in revenues of more than $673 million — a $122 million increase year over year according to a conversion of the company’s reported figures from British pounds to USD. Triumph — which has been operating since 1902 — is the oldest, continually produced motorcycle brand, according to the company.

In December, Triumph re-signed with Wells Fargo CDF to keep its North American dealers in inventory financing plans and keep sales flowing, Powersports Finance previously reported. The OEM offers financing through Freedom Road Financial. The OEM’s global operations are headquartered in England, with its North American operations based in Atlanta, Ga.

As the company turns the corner to 2018, Triumph may be looking for additional capital. The company previously reported that volatility in the financial markets “may impede our ability to successfully access capital markets and ensure adequate liquidity.”
