The FTC’s third Motor Vehicle Roundtable will be held tomorrow in Washington, D.C. The main focus: consumer leasing.
Panels will tackle what has been learned about auto sales, financing, and leasing at the previous roundtables; consumer protection issues and misrepresentations in the leasing process; what works and doesn’t work in consumer and business education; and what practices are harmful to consumers and potential solutions.

The Commission aims to protect consumers in connection with financial transactions like the purchase or lease of a vehicle. Hopefully after this roundtable, finance companies will get a better sense as to what will change in the near future and what regulations will begin to pop up as the CFPB gets situated. For now, companies seem to be unaware of what the future holds.
