NPA Grows in Philadelphia, Eyes Expansion in Midwest

Matthew Wood

National Powersports Auction, an auction and remarketing services provider in the powersports industry, moved from its facility in Bristol, Pa. to a new building four times as large in the same area, Jim Woodruff, chief operating officer, told Powersports Finance.

“We’ve been in [the Pennsylvania] market for a year and moved from our first facility, which was kind of a pilot, into this new facility,” Woodruff said. “It’s almost four times bigger, so within a year we were expanding.”

NPA previously opened up a facility in Bristol, Pa. in December 2016 following its acquisition by Copart Inc., an online salvage and insurance auto auctions service. The new facility officially opened earlier this month.

The national auction house has been working on expanding its geographic footprint. In addition to the facility in Pennsylvania, NPA also operates out of Atlanta, Cincinnati, Dallas, and San Diego, with more expansion “on the radar,” Woodruff said. NPA is planning to launch a new facility in the Midwest and will be officially making the announcement in the coming weeks.

NPA was acquired by Copart in June of last year. The partnership, in part, allowed NPA to begin further expanding geographically.

“In the short term, there is a lot of opportunities domestically … for additional locations, to invest in the facilities, infrastructure, and people more quickly than we could do on our own,” Woodruff previously told Powersports Finance. “I think that’s the opportunity — to leverage each of our areas of expertise and to learn and apply those practices is very exciting.”
