Solid sales reports have been trickling in all day, and word is that November sales will push the SAAR to a 13.4 million rate, up 8% from November 2010. The recent buzz in the industry points at sales looking better than we’ve seen since August 2009.
Here’s a taste of November sales (compared with November 2010) for the manufacturers that have released numbers so far:
- Chrysler: up 45% to 107,172
- Volkswagen: up 40.7% to 28,412
- Ford: up 24% to 147,338
- Nissan: up 19.4% to 85,182
- GM: up 6.9% to 180,402

Showing a decrease so far, was Honda: down 9.9% to 49, 610.
“We are seeing a broad spectrum of customers return to the market,” said Don Johnson, vice president, U.S. Sales Operations for GM. Calendar year to date, all four GM brands have increased sales compared with the same period last year.
Chrysler is reporting that November sales have been the company’s best year-over-year rate so far for 2011 and Hyundai is reporting that this month marks and all-time November record.
Ford, too, is touting solid November data. “With our strongest-ever line of products, we’re pleased to see more signs the economy is growing and the demand for new vehicles is increasing,” said Ken Czubay, vice president of U.S. Marketing, Sales and Service for Ford Motor Co.
