Manufacturers Get In on Labor Day Sales Action

Auto Finance News

Labor Day is dreaded by most kids because it means that summer’s officially over, but this week is a great time for shoppers. Retailers are offering huge sales on everything from school supplies and clothes to big-ticket items like furniture and computers.

Car dealers also get in on the action, especially since this is the time of year when many automakers start to introduce next year’s models. To push out the old to make room for the new, car buyers can expect to see MSRP mark-offs and other incentives like rebates or bonus cash.

Online marketplace CarsDirect.com offered up some of its top picks for this year’s Labor Day sales. Here’s a sampling:

2013 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible
A redesigned ‘Vette is on the horizon for 2014, so there are major discounts on this year’s model. CarsDirect is offering $6,000 off, plus buyers can get an additional rebate of $2,000. Drivers who already own or lease a Corvette can also land $3,000 in “loyalty cash,” making for $11,000 off for shopping this coming weekend.

2013 Ford Mustang
Ford’s muscle car doesn’t have as hefty a discount as the Corvette, but the incentives are pretty decent for the Mustang’s price bracket: a $1,500 rebate, $1,000 in bonus cash, and a $500 finance bonus if buyers use Ford Motor Credit. CarsDirect is offering an extra $4,000 if buyers purchase the car through its site.

2013 Nissan Titan
Nissan is trying to make a dent in the full-size truck market, so the Japanese manufacturer is offering $5,000 off the MSRP, and mixed with CarsDirect’s $8,000 discount, shoppers can save $13,000 on the Titan, pictured above.

2013 BMW ActiveHybrid 5
BMW is giving $6,000 in bonus cash with $1,000 in loyalty cash, and CarsDirect has an extra discount of $8,000.

2013 Ford Flex
Ford’s offering a $2,500 rebate on this year’s Flex, plus a $1,000 bonus cash incentive, and $500 in finance bonus cash.
