As part of an ongoing expansion, the Avis Budget Group Inc. recently announced it had enrolled a total of more than 3,000 U.S. dealerships, in 19 states, to participate in Avis Direct, its relatively new dealer channel for retail sales of off-rental vehicles from the Avis, Budget, Payless and Zipcar brands.
Avis Direct is partnered with Innovative Funding Services, Austin, Texas, which in turn refers customers to a group of preferred lenders. According to the Avis direct-to-consumer auto sales web site, the rental company is partnered with more than 20 different lenders.
Avis Budget Group, Parsippany, N.J., launched Avis Direct in February 2014. Since then, the program has signed up dealerships in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and Washington. In late September, the company announced the addition of North and South Carolina.
The consumer car sales program employs no-haggle pricing, the company said.
