TCF Bank added this week a free “Auto Finance Fitness” course to its online consumer education program, said Amie Hoffner, the bank’s vice president and director of corporate communications.
“The course provides general information of interest to consumers, including types of auto loans, organizations that finance auto loans, and common factors that determine auto loan payments,” she said.
To ensure the program is unbiased, EverFi, a company that provides free, online education, will oversee the curriculum, Hoffner said. The auto finance component is one of 21 courses in the program — eight of which are new. All are intended to help consumers achieve their financial goals, she added.
TCF Bank originates auto loans indirectly through subsidiary Gateway One Lending & Finance; it does not offer auto loans directly to consumers in its branches or online.\
