San Antonio Federal Credit Union is adding staff and updating its loan-origination systems in an effort to stay competitive. “We’re in a real competitive environment right now, and we think that’s going to stay the same, so we’re bringing on additional resources to try to help combat some of that,” Mark Dwyer, SACU’s general manager of indirect auto, told AFN.
Specifically, General Motors Financial Co. has been one of SACU’s biggest rivals recently. “GM Financial, at least in our area, is starting to get a little more aggressive,” Dwyer said.”Some of our dealers are telling us they may or may not go with it, but they are offering some pretty sweet funds to come back in.” For the time being, SACU might focus on holding its ground — “at least until interest rates move up and give us a bit more spread, so that’s the plan for 2015,” he said.
