Hackett Lands at Hudson Cook

Ben Geier

Former Consumer Financial Protection Bureau assistant director Richard Hackett has taken a job at law firm Hudson Cook LLP.

Hackett left the CFPB in June 2013, after a three-year stint. At the agency, he worked in installment and small dollar lending. According to his Linkedin page, Hackett’s work as a partner at Hudson Cook will “include development of significant new data about nonprime consumer interaction with small dollar lending products.”

Hackett has not yet responded to questions about whether his work at the firm will include the auto finance space.

Hudson Cook has been bolstering its auto finance practice in recent months, with the additions of Jeffrey Levine, former general counsel Chase Auto Finance, and Thomas Buiteweg, formerly legal counsel for Ally Bank, among others.
