VIDEO: The Focus on the Market Is …

Auto Finance News

Gas prices increased just slightly this past week, bringing the price of gas just $.10 higher today compared to year-ago levels. These prices are not helping sales or retention of hybrid and electric vehicles, but also not holding back any specific segment types, marking a sign of a better overall economy.

All 14 truck segments declined this past week, signaling a turn from the past three months during which at least one truck segment increased every week. The smallest declining amount was at -$2 from the Compact SUVs, and the Compact Pickups were not far behind at -$9. The largest declining truck segment was the Full-Size Crossovers at -$102.

For cars, the consistency during the first three weeks of June continues to show the need for used product while also realizing the increasing supplies within the lanes is edging upward. All 10 car segments softened this past week, with the largest declining amounts from the Luxury Level Cars at -$58.
