Canadian OEM Electra Meccanica Seeks Financing Partner Amid Launch of First Model

Electra Meccanica is seeking lending partners for its new model slated to debut in January 2019, CEO Jerry Kroll told Auto Finance News.

“We control financing ourselves and have it in-house, but if we can get some of the big banks and financial institutions supporting this [car], that’s what we’re all about,” Kroll said.

Kroll is confident that the $15,500 price tag for the single-passenger Solo, as the car is called, will help the brand weather softening new-car demand. In most cases, it can be leased from $200 to $250 per month, he said.

A new Electra Meccanica dealership in Los Angeles will carry the first 200 cars. Subsequent dealerships are slated to open in Washington and Oregon.
