Ford Motor Credit Co. has appointed Brian Schaaf as chief financial officer, the company announced today.

Schaaf will lead Ford Credit in financial planning, analysis, accounting, and capital strategy. He was previously the controller of Ford Motor Co. Global Purchasing. Schaff has been with Ford Motor since 1989, and has held various management positions, such as finance manager and assistant treasurer.

Schaaf will be replacing current Ford Credit CFO Marion Harris, who is to become vice president of Ford Mobility Business Group, one of the four new teams that Ford Mobility has created to increase its mobility service this year.

Ford’s mobility unit is expanding its team and accelerating the delivery of mobility products and services to personal vehicle owners, fleet owners, and cities globally, according to a separate press release. Ford Mobility plans to accelerate and create businesses in transportation, operating systems, connectivity, ridesharing, non-emergency medical transportation, and vehicle-management-as-a-service.

Ford has reorganized and developed four new teams to focus on these new mobility goals: Ford X, which will incubate new business models; Ford Mobility Business Group, responsible for scaling the existing mobility business; Mobility Platforms and Products, leading the design and development of technology; and Mobility Marketing and Growth, a new global marketing and sales team.

To further support this new shift, Ford has acquired technology companies Autonomic and TransLoc. Autonomic, an integral part of the Ford X team, is building an open-cloud based platform to connect mobility services. The automaker previously invested in Autonomic last year. Under Ford, Autonomic will accelerate the establishment of the Transportation Mobility Cloud platform, in addition to other mobility initiatives such as connectivity and non-emergency medical transportation.

TransLoc is a provider of demand-response technology for city-owned microtransit solutions. As a part of Mobility Marketing and Growth, TransLoc brings its network of city relationships and experience providing solutions.
