Motorcycle values reach two-year high

Matthew Wood

Motorcycle prices finished 2019 at a two-year high while side-by-side values experienced a decrease, according to a market insights report NADAguides provided Powersports Finance.

Specifically, the average cruiser and sportbike prices rose 1.8% to $8,348 and $8,764, respectively, during the November to December 2019 time period. Meanwhile, side-by-side utility values trended below average the past two years, declining 3.4% to $8,861.

However, pricing for the sport segment was “essentially identical” to 2018 on average, the report noted. Yearend prices were down 0.9% YoY to $11,495. The sector started 2019 with values on “higher ground,” but did not see a strong a midyear bump, which ultimately led to stable values to close out the year, according to the report.

Looking forward, NADAguides does not foresee significant changes in most economic measures in the first half of this year. Employment figures remain “extremely” strong, with record levels of consumer spending, the report noted. The unemployment rate was 3.5% in December, the lowest rate in more than a decade, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
