Demand Climbs for Hybrid Leases

Auto Finance News

Car drivers appear to be increasingly curious about taking hybrid automobiles for extended test runs, according to new data from Swapalease.com, an online marketplace that allows lessees to find consumers to take over the remaining portion of their lease contracts. September transfer activity in the “green” vehicle segment shot up 66.7% year over year, leading all other categories.

“We anticipate this trend to continue in the near term, particularly with the strong emphasis on lease deals for these eco-friendly vehicles,” said Swapalease.com Executive Vice President Scot Hall.

Other segment leaders in September transfer activity, according to Swapalease.com:
Sport 45.0%
Wagon 39.0%
Coupe 25.4%

The biggest decliner: the van segment, down 37.5% YOY.
