When customers step foot into their nearest Costco warehouse, they can pick up the necessities: bulk food items, clothing, electronics ― and beginning this month, a brand new General Motors vehicle.
Well, it may not work exactly like that, but being a Costco member continues to have its perks. Beginning Nov. 1, members can take part in a new GM-Costco Auto Program partnership that offers special GM Preferred Pricing on the purchase or lease of any one of eight eligible 2011 and 2012 Chevrolet and GMC trucks and SUVs. The Chevrolet and GMC Limited-Time Offer promo also allows consumers to combine the deal with existing national rebates and dealer incentives. Members who participate in the program also receive a $500 Costco Cash Card.
Costco, the Issaquah, Wash.-based wholesaler, has 432 warehouse stores throughout the country where members pay annual fees of $55 or $110 to shop for a range of products at or through the club at discount prices. More than 2,400 dealerships across the country currently participate in the Costco Auto Program.
The Costco Auto Program has run promotions with other manufacturers in the past. When visiting the company’s web site, customers can browse a series of new and used vehicles of different makes and models, RVs, boats and even motorcycles. The current Chevy/GMC offer applies to the Chevrolet Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe and Traverse and to the GMC Acadia, Sierra, Yukon and Yukon XL and runs through Jan. 3, 2012.
Costco’s competitors like BJ’s Wholesale and Sam’s Club both have auto programs offering their members “no haggle prices,” but will they offer a $500 gift card incentive just in time for the holiday season and fourth quarter sales?
