Porsche Cars North America Inc. debuted Porsche Passport, a new sports car and SUV month-to-month subscription program, adding to a growing list of luxury automakers entering the subscription space.
The new program allows subscribers to frequently exchange vehicles or keep them for as long as they like. The service includes unlimited mileage and on-demand access to 22 different Porsche models through a mobile app.
Porsche Passport is currently operating in pilot, with possible expansion after, according to a company press release. Additionally, PCNA has partnered with Clutch Technologies LLC to manage customer interaction as well as the end-to-end service delivery for Porsche Passport.
Its not known at this time the extent, if any, of the involvement of Porsche Financial Services. Porsche did not respond to a request for comment by press time.
Porsche Passport now joins the ranks of Care by Volvo and Book by Cadillac, two other luxury subscription services that have rolled out in 2017. Porsche Passport is similar to the other two programs by offering white-glove vehicle delivery, unlimited mileage, and rolling together vehicle tax and registration, insurance, and maintenance, into the monthly fee.
Overall, the new service is part of Porsche’s larger Strategy 2025, which is a long-term plan to integrate electromobility, digitalization, and connectivity into the Porsche brand, according to Porsche’s website.
There are currently two membership plans available for Porsche Passport — Launch and Accelerate. Launch includes on-demand access to eight model options such as the 718 Boxster and Cayman S, for a monthly fee of $2,000; Accelerate includes on-demand access to 22 model options such as the Porsche 911 Carrera S or the Panamera 4S sports sedan, in addition to the vehicles offered in the Launch package, for a monthly fee of $3,000.
