Another Congressman Writes to Cordray

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau continues to face scrutiny from lawmakers, as yet another Congressman has written a letter to Chairman Richard Cordray demanding answers about the agency’s role in regulating auto finance.

The latest is from Rep.  Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas), chairman of the House Financial Services Committee. According to a report in the Wall Street Journal, Hensarling notes that it has been a year since information was first requested.

This letter comes a few months after a bipartisan group of Senators wrote to Cordray about the same issue, a letter which led to a forum in Washington, D.C., about the auto finance issue.

Bad press has continued to follow the CFPB since then, with a recent article in the American Banker alleging that racial discrimination takes place inside the bureau – whose goals include fighting racial discrimination.

Check out the full letter here.
