Enterprise Holdings‘ new subscription service is being piloted in three states — for an undetermined length of time, spokeswoman Laura Bryant told Auto Finance News.
The company expects the program, called “Subscribe with Enterprise,” to be “fully vetted” before it eventually launches throughout the U.S., she said.
The pilot program has been launched in Minnesota, Missouri, and Nevada. The three states were selected “based on a special list of data analytics we felt could help us effectively study this business while giving us confidence in scaling it to other areas of the country,” Bryant said.
The car rental company’s subscription service is positioned as an alternative to long-term commitments that coincide with leasing or purchasing a vehicle. The service — which will require a two-month commitment and run consumers $1,499 per month — includes four vehicle changes per month, 36,000 driving miles per year, roadside assistance, and physical and liability damage coverage. AAA’s 2018 “Your Driving Cost” report estimates the cost of owning a large sedan or medium SUV to be $815 per month at 15,000 driving miles per year.
“Monthly pricing is based upon local market conditions, as determined by each of our independent regional subsidiaries, and consequently, is subject to change,” Bryant said.
