Captive finance company Nissan Motor Acceptance Corp. expects to originate more loans for commercial users and fleets in 2016, according to President Mark Kaczynski. “Nissan as a brand is growing in the commercial space,” Kaczynski told AFN in a recent interview.
“Commercial for us is going to be a bigger and bigger issue,” he said. Year to date, the captive finance company said its commercial volume was up around 40% from a year ago, although the company wouldn’t share the specific numbers.
Earlier this month, Nissan North America launched a marketing campaign featuring tough-guy actors like Mickey Rourke and Carl Weathers in short, mock-action-movie films to promote its lineup of commercial vehicles.
Besides vans aimed specifically at commercial customers, Kaczynski said the redesigned 2016 Nissan Titan pickup truck is expected to increase demand from commercial users. The Titan hasn’t been fully redesigned since 2003.
“Today we [already] do commercial lending, but we are looking into how to support dealers in that commercial space,” he said.
