Global Lending Services is investing more than $4.2 million into its Greenville, S.C., offices, setting the company on track to double its South Carolina operations over the next five years, according to a press release by the South Carolina Department of Commerce.
“The growth of the city, along with its recent popularity of becoming a ‘Top 10 city to live’ by various reviews, has helped support our rapid hiring needs as well as support our ability to recruit top talent to the Greenville area,” GLS Chief Executive Steve Thibodeau told Auto Finance News in an email.
In addition to expanding its Greenville office footprint, GLS plans to create 669 new jobs to accommodate growing sales – a figure that will nearly double the size of the lender’s total current workforce of 750 employees.

The expansion is slated to be complete by the summer of 2020. GLS operates three facilities in Atlanta, Ga., Tempe, Ariz., and Greenville, S.C.
Thibodeau noted Greenville County has experienced “significant growth” over the past five years, as investments in infrastructure and amenities has led to a revival of the downtown core, the addition of new sporting venues and a theatre center, as well as an expansion and renovation to the airport. Meanwhile, the proximity to several universities, including Clemson University, University of South Carolina, Georgia Tech, and University of Georgia, provides GLS the opportunity to recruit recent graduates into management rotation programs or technical roles, Thibodeau noted.
