Used-car marketplace Carvana introduced what it claims is the world’s first “coin”-operated car vending machine in Nashville, Tenn. today.
The fully-automated giant glass building is actuated through a Carvana-issued custom coin, “similar to how a can of soda is dispensed from a traditional vending machine,” the company said in a statement this morning.
After completing the car-buying and -financing process online, customers in Nashville can choose to pick up their car as opposed to having it delivered. At the building’s “delivery bay,” they can select their name from the kiosk inside the machine, insert the coin and watch their car being retrieved from the tower.
For social media’s sake, the company also provides each buyer with a custom video of their “vending machine experience.”
