Groupe PSA Re-Enters North America With Free2Move Launch in Seattle

Groupe PSA has re-entered North America after 26 years with the launch of its Free2Move technology brand in Seattle today.

Launched in 2016, Free2Move is a smartphone-based mobility aggregation platform which unites all of Groupe PSA’s new mobility solutions, including carsharing, fleet sharing and fleet management, connected services, and car leasing. Group PSA, which is the maker of brands Peugeot, Citroen, and Opel, did not respond to a request to confirm that the leasing unit of Free2Move also launched in the North American market.

Currently, Free2Move will provide mobility services to residents and travelers in Seattle before a nationwide rollout as part of Groupe PSA’s long-term “Push to Pass” global growth initiative. “Push to Pass” was shared in April 2016 and is a strategy for the 2016 to 2021 period to meet customers’ mobility needs by anticipating changes in car usage patterns, delivering 10% revenue growth by 2018 (as compared to 2015), and targeting an additional 15% growth by 2021.

“As mobility services evolve and innovate based on the way people think about and consume mobility, bringing Free2Move stateside provides us with a unique way to address consumer demands, as well as a flexible platform to roll out future products,” PSA’s North America President and CEO Larry Dominique said in a statement.

With Free2Move, consumers can schedule or immediately access the transportation of their choice for a period ranging from a few minutes to several days. The service is currently available in seven countries in France, Spain, Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, Austria, and Sweden, with 400,000 customers and some 30 operators.
