With the evolution of indirect lending over the past 10 years (ie.phoning in apps, faxing apps, now Dealer Track and Route One.) where does everyone see indirect lending in the next 10 years?

Wow, this is a tough question, Barry! To clarify, do you mean from a standpoint of strategy, operations or strictly technology?
I am speaking on the terms of Strategy, which to many would include its marriage to technology. For example, will the indirect market be financing batteries for electric vehicles, etc.
I think 10 years from now, you will see a much more "customer centric" approach to large ticket purchase lending. Technologies next advances will be for the empowerment of the consumer. A morphed "direct lending" model will emerge. I think we are already seeing that the finance side, piece of the equation, is starting to get really squeezed. Finance delivery at your fingertips.

Another change will be that large dealer groups will get into the ABS market themselves and package loans for bulk sale (I know, but liquidity will return someday!!) Think about it. Large banks and credit unions act as the conduit and servicer rather than the lender (has another industry tried this business model??)

As far as what we will be financing? I think if there is a need and we can figure out a way to make the transaction cost effective and get a decent return, we will finance it!

(Is he serious or being sarcastic???)

During periods of uncertainty, there are usually two reactions; shut it down or take the opportunity to eplore new ways of doing business. I believe those with the latter philosophy will be the leaders 10 years from now.

What do you think?????
